James R. — Scottish Highlands, 7 days
“My son asked me on day three if we could live in the van forever. That’s when I knew we’d made the right call.”
He’s eight. He’s been asking for a dog for three years and we’ve been saying no. He spent the whole first day on the road asking when we’d get to the hotel before he understood that the van was the hotel.
By day three he’d completely rearranged his sleeping area, declared the bunk ‘his room’, and informed us he was going to be a van person when he grew up. His younger sister (five) agreed and said she was going to live ‘in the mountains’ and we could visit.
We did all five Dragon Express quests. The 4am sunrise one was his idea. My wife and I would not have chosen to be awake at 4am in the Scottish Highlands in October. We’re both very glad we were.
